The Canyon celebrated it's 6th Anniversary on June 7th! Wooohooo! What better way to celebrate than with a good ol' fashioned Canyon Family BBQ!

We were introduced to Zariya Allen by multi-generational Hollywood native and photographer Kevin Hayeland who was gracious enough to shoot Zariya for us. Her IG showed she had a lot going on - serious mixed media, collage and poetry skills.

When you hear the name Kelly Lynch, you might think of movies like “Roadhouse”, “Charlie’s Angels”, “Cocktail” or the classic “Drugstore Cowboy” or her more current work in Sofia Coppola’s just released “On The Rocks” or in television hits like “Magic City” or “Mr. Mercedes”.  But there’s a lot more to Lynch than her Hollywood legacy.

Her mother would sew her coats and jackets, even bell bottomed jeans with beaded fringe at the hem. "It was truly something, having clothes no one could buy, that were really just for me and what I loved."

We were so lucky to have Courtney Jay with us a couple weeks ago for a rejuvenating and calming yoga session to kick off our Self Care Sunday series.

Since we can't meet face to face these days, we decided to change things up a bit with our very first LIVE VINTAGE INSTA-AUCTION @shopthecanyon. We didn't know anyone who'd done it before we could model ours on, so we were flying by the seat of our pants. We planned to go for an hour but 2 1/2 hours later the bidding (and <laughing> emojis!) was still going strong!

Our actual 2 year birthday at our Franklin Village location was June 6 but we didn't get around to throwing the fiesta until July 20. Hoo rah! Like the sign says there was custom embroidery made to order by Cecile @cecil.b.moxie on her 100 year old Singer, traditional henna art designs inked by Katie @kitty 007 and DJ Short Shorts @DJshortshorts spinning "Nutbush City Limits" and other requests and surprise deep cuts. All this plus a sweet discount brought the people out to our best sales day 'n' night ever! Thank you to all of you who made it and continue to make it happen. Beachwood is one of a dozen or so canyons running south from the crest of the Santa Monica Mountains on LA’s northern border with the San Fernando Valley. It’s well known as the gateway to the Hollywood sign. One of the Hollywood Hills original neighborhoods developed in the ‘20’s, it’s a quiet enclave that keeps its rustic vibe though only blocks away from Hollywood traffic and big city action. It’s also where we shot our last session with Julia at Cyn and Dean’s house. Check these outtakes and selects for a taste of Canyon life.

On one of her visits to our store, McKenzie Rollins mentioned she was an equestrian (English style) rider and that she currently competes and teaches out of The Mill Creek Equestrian Center in Topanga Canyon. We thought “How cool is that?” and that it would make a good setting for our next shoot. She was game and it was on! FYI, McKenzie is currently ranked #1 Adult Rider and Frankie is #1 in the US  Training division (US Eventing Association, American Eventing Championships - 2018. A definite power couple!
